West 8 exhibits in Paris: Governors Island on La Ville Fertile

03/2011 | newsletter | West 8 Urban Design & Landscape Architecture

Wednesday 23rd of March the Cité de l'architecture & du patrimoine will open the exhibition La Ville Fertile (The Fertile City). It questions the place of nature in our modern cities in a historical, social, cultural, botanical and environmental perspective. The exhibition offers an immersion into the world of plants and the urban world. At the same time it shows the different elements that are being traversed: the horizon, water, wind, urban landscape and sounds. One of the sequences of the exhibition, entitled The Object of Desire aims to show our fantasies of nature embodied in the reality of the cities. Its richness and depth is illustrated by 16 prospective projects across four themes: Forest, Prairie, Wasteland, Rivers. The exhibition is open until July 24th 2011.
