Houston Botanic Garden has officially broken ground and we're celebrating by sharing more about the exciting elements planned for the Edible Garden, an integral component of Phase I of the garden’s 30-year Master Plan by West 8. 

In collaboration with BOVAArchitects, West 8 has created a new plan that extends the existing parking structure below ‘t Zand Square into the area below King Albert I Park and redesigns the park itself. 

West 8’s winning-entry to the Middle Branch Waterfront Revitalization Competition has been featured in Next City’s The Power of Parks series. 

We are excited to share that West 8, along with our core local partners Mahan Rykiel Associates, Inc. and Moffatt & Nichol, has been announced as the winning team of the Middle Branch Waterfront Revitalization Competition! 

West 8 has been selected to design Campusplein, a new square at the heart of Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP). The design will embody the park's ambition of becoming a more ecological, biodiverse and sustainable campus. 

Our Rotterdam office will move to the Fenixloods I building, a historic warehouse on the quayside of the Rhine harbor in Katendrecht, later this year. 

The IABR and the city of Dordrecht have organized the “IABR-Atelier the Ark of Dordrecht” to examine methods to optimize its multi-layered water safety strategy.

On June 19th, the Bridges and Pumping Stations of Noordwaard, designed by West 8 and ipv Delft, were awarded the Landezine International Landscape Award (LILA) in the category of Infrastructure.

West 8 is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Park at Essex Crossing! The park, designed by West 8, provides a refined, shaded oasis in the heart of Manhattan’s Lower East Side. 

This weekend our new climbing structure along the Groene Loper in Maastricht was revealed.

This week, West 8, in partnership with SHoP Architects, Brandywine Realty Trust and Drexel University, celebrated the opening of Drexel Square—our new 1.3-acre community park— which marks the first completed project within the visionary $3.5 billion master-planned Schuylkill Yards development in University City, Philadelphia.

On 29th May, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) and the project team celebrated the completion of its second major performing arts venue – Freespace, located in the heart of the Art Park within the West Kowloon Cultural District. West Kowloon Art Park is a design by West 8 in collaboration with local partners.

The NEPROM Prize for area development 2019 has been awarded to Strijp-S in Eindhoven. Jury chairman, Josja van der Veer, announced on May 16th during the Day of Project Development in Den Bosch. With the prize, NEPROM, the association of project developers, intends to emphasize the great importance of the good cooperation between governments and market parties for the high-quality area development.

West 8, in collaboration with Vectris and Copenhagenize Design Co., is pleased to be commissioned by the city of Bruges to prepare ‘The vision of the FR30’, a study on the feasibility and planning of the city’s bicycle network.

On May 22, Adriaan Geuze was announced as the winner of the ULI Netherlands Leadership Award for Outstanding Urban (re)Development at the ULI Netherlands Annual Conference in Rotterdam.
