West 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture

Last Wednesday the new pedestrian bicycle bridge 'The Twist’, designed by West 8 for the City of Vlaardingen, was placed at its final destination at the shores of the Vlaardingse Vaart in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands.

This week construction works have started at the Noorderpark in Amsterdam. The first part to be developed is Volewijk-Oost and will be ready mid-2009.

On Tuesday the 16th of December an educational raised relief model of Holland, designed by West 8 in close collaboration with the Dutch department of Waterways and Public Works and TNO, was presented to state secretary Tineke Huizinga.

West 8 + DTAH's recently completed Spadina Wave Deck for Waterfront Toronto has been nominated for this year's Brit Insurance Design Awards.

On Tuesday the 25th of November 2008, Dutch Prime Minister Balkenende officially opened the new HanzeForum in Groningen, The Netherlands.

This evening Adriaan Geuze has the honor of giving a lecture on current work at the renowned Great Hall of The Cooper Union in New York.

On the 13th of November 2008 the construction site boards of the new pedestrian bridge "The Twist" were unveiled by representatives of the local government of Vlaardingen, Mr. Versluijs and Mr. Robberecht.

Last Friday West 8 urban design & landscape architecture received the Bijhouwer Award for its exceptional and high quality design and implementation work in the areas of Garden Design and Landscape Architecture.

West 8's project Playa de Palma received the Ejecutivos Award for Project of the Year

The winning design of West 8 and ING-Bremond for a new ecological district just outside of Paris emphasizes the insular character of the area.
