West 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture

West 8 is announced winner of an international invited competition for the redevelopment of the green heart of Russian city Voronezh, a 100 hectare of woodland area north of the city centre.

In Tuscany, close to Florence and Pisa, the charming historical city of Pistoia, Divano and Pouf benches designed by West 8 are used in the public space.  

West 8's Madrid Rio Park in Madrid and OJB's Levy Park in Houston have both been selected as winners of the ULI Urban Open Space Award 2018 edition. Announcement was made on 9 October 2018 at the 2018 ULI Fall Meeting in Boston.

On 12 October, Adriaan Geuze will present the yearly Dijksterhuis lecture at the symposium of the Foundation of Academic Heritage in the Netherlands (SAE).

On Thursday, October 4, Adriaan Geuze received the Klinkenbergh Award from LandschappenNL. Geuze won the prize because of his vision and role for the development and preservation of the Dutch landscape.

West 8 has since 2013 been assigned to steer the urban redevelopment of Gasthuiskwartier (formerly GZG-terrein) after the relocation of the GZG Hospital in 2006. Transfromation of this former sanatorium, a cultural heritage of the city, is starting to get shape.

The Dutch architecture platform Architectenweb has nominated Adriaan Geuze for the 11th 'Architect of the Year' award. Geuze is one of five designers who are honored for their impact on the quality of Dutch architecture.

In conjunction with the newly completed metro Noord/Zuidlijn (North-South metro line) of Amsterdam in July 2018, West 8 designs a new entrance for the municipality Amsterdam Noord as part of the enhancement of our Noorderpark design. The work is expected to last until mid October 2018.

West 8's Madrid Rio project was selected as one of the five finalists for the ULI Urban Open Space Award 2018. The announcement of the winning project will be made in October at the 2018 ULI Fall Meeting in Boston.

We are excited to announce that our revitalization of Longwood's Main Fountain Garden has won an Honor Award in the General Design category of the 2018 ASLA Professional Awards!

The UNESCO city of Bruges' largest open place is now transformed into a beautiful, elegant and functional event square. The grand opening took place on Saturday 1st of September. The city of Bruges invited all residents and visitors to celebrate the completion of this brand new square.

West 8 congratulates School 7 in Den Helder on winning the title of Public Library of the Year, issued by The International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA).

The reconversion of the former School of the Infantry (EAI) in Montpellier, designed by West 8 started to get shape.

On the 18th of October, 2018, Adriaan Geuze will speak at the Designing Water Conference in Longwood Gardens. 

West 8's New Hondsbossche Dunes project was nominated for the 2018 Archtizer A+ Awards in the category Architecture + Landscape and a special mention was awarded to the Irma Logs. Public voting closes July 20th.

Ballast Nedam Development annouced the materialisation of West 8's master plan for the real estate part of De Groene Loper (The Green Carpet) in phases.

On 27 June, Maarten van de Voorde, Director of West 8 Belgium was invited to lead a tour for the client group and stakeholders of the Parc du Moulon et le Carré des Sciences project in Saclay after delivery of Phase 1 of the project.

For the past 10 years, West 8 and Adriaan Geuze have been working intensively on several urban development projects in Eindhoven. Monday 11 June Geuze wil present a lecture at Architectuurcentrum Eindhoven.

West 8's plans for Phase One of Houston Botanic Garden, called “Botanic Beginnings” have been unveiled. Set to open to the public in fall 2020, the 120-acres of botanic gardens will welcome Houstonians from all walks of life.

'All About Housing' is the theme of the Kaliningrad Forum for 'Living Environment'. Toegther with other speakers, West 8 Partner and urban designer Martin Biewenga presented on May 18 West 8's current Dom Sovetov Square project at Kaliningrad.
