West 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture

The abandoning of the harbour areas directly north of the Copenhagen town centre offers a tremendous opportunity for urban development. West 8 was asked to transform the area of Nord Bassinet and Söndre Frihavn into a residential and office neighbourhood, integrating vital port activities such as the ferry and a marina. These attractive functions establish the pure identity of these sites, and will protect the area from sterility and suburban "silence."
